PEACE BOX

SONG FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

We have come a long way
And witnessed the advent of a new day
We joined hands to end apartheid
And now we are partners in aid.

Some say the problem is the religion
Some say the problem is the region
I say the problem is reason:
Reason is simply out of season

We have entered a new era
An era full of error
Some say an eye for an eye
Others a tooth for a tooth: But why?

Who would have thought it possible
That the Twin Towers would be collapsible?
Who does not marvel to see
Memorial gardens where the Embassies used to be ?

Other People's tears have become other people's joy
Few strive to build, myriad seek to destroy
But while doubts and suspicion advance
Attach value to life, give peace another chance.

Two wrongs do not make a right
It takes two unreasoning minds to flare up a fight
And one reasoning voice to call a cease-fire
The century is so young, let's not light the fire.
