A BEGGAR SLEEPS ON HIS DREAM

 Asleep on a dusty pavement
Outside a well lit
Hire purchase shop
He snores and dreams
About a bed as comfortable
As the one on display inside

The dream removes the separating glass
Lays him gently on the bed
Pillows his head
Covers him with a warm blanket

The beggar snores and dreams
He dares not wake up
Or his dream, his warmth, his hope
Melt away when the lights are switched off.
